Sinful Colours - Frenzy

29 December 2013

I really need to get better at showing off the nail related purchases I make.  I spend a lot of money on polishes and really need to blog about them because I buy some fantastic polishes.  I also get gifted a lot of polishes too.

Do you guys have any different ways of storing your polishes?  Do you perhaps put them to one side and don't allow them to join the others until they've been swatched?  I'd be interested to know what you all do.

This polish was given to me by a work colleague, Amanda, to say thank you for organising our Christmas Party.  She loves purple things, so I can see why she was attracted to it and it's lovely and sparkly too.

I love Sinful Colour polishes - they're so cheap and so easy to apply - I've never had any difficulties using them.  I used 3 coats to get almost full coverage and didn't use a base colour as I was being a bit lazy.  The effect is really shiney and eye catching.

I was a little silly though and only took one photo!  Oops!

Splats and Stripes

29 August 2013

I love love love Splat nails.  You probably all know this by now.

I also love love love using striping tape.

So I decided to combine the two!

To do this I used the following polishes:

  • Sinful Colours - Snow White
  • Barry M Gelly Mango
  • Barry M Gelly Key Lime
  • Barry M Gelly Pomegranate
  • Barry M Gelly Guava (can you tell these are my favourite polishes at the moment)
  • and of course OPI Nail Envy and Sally Hansen Insta-Dry
The manicure is easy to do:

  1. Base coat first.
  2. Then two coats of sinful colours in white.
  3. Next, use Sally Hansen Insta-Dry to ensure the base colour is completely dry.
  4. Once you're positive it's dry, apply striping tape in any pattern you want.  I wanted to create a sun ray type look.  Remember what order you put them down so that you can remove them in the reverse order.
  5. Working nail by nail, use medium sized straws to blow your polish at your nail.  Vary the distance to get different sized "splodges".
  6. Remove the tape quickly and in the reverse order to how you applied them.
  7. Repeat steps 5 & 6 for each nail.
  8. Once the polish is completely dry, clean up and add a top coat.
And voila!  The clean-up for this manicure actually takes longer than the doing!

Blue Sea Gradient

14 August 2013

I was so upset that I couldn't do gradient nails for this week's challenge, as soon as my ombre nails were off - these beauties went on!

I love these - they've been catching my eye and kept me happy for a few days!

I used Sinful Colours Snow White then Barry M Greenberry and Guava Gellys.

Sinful Colours: Kissy

01 June 2013

So yesterday I went shopping and noticed that Boots have finally restocked on Barry M polishes.  Yey!  I'm keeping my eyes peeled for deals ready for the release of the new Gellys - they're the only Barry M's I'm allowed to buy this month.

While I was browsing boots the new Sinful Colours stand caught my eye.  I was impressed by the range of colours they had and how cheap they were so decided to pick up a bottle.

Kissy Kissy caught my eye straight away and is a fantastic polish for only £1.99.  It applied well, with very little streakiness and I was able to get a decent cover after only two layers (I don't usually like using more than two layers as I find the polish chips more quickly if I do).

I painted the nails last night and today I've been a busy bee revising so going into files, hole punching, stapling and procrastinating and so far I haven't had a chip so extra points for that.  I think I'll be looking at investing in some more colours from the range in the very near future.

Here are the final results after base coat, two coats of polish and two top coats:

P.S Please ignore the current state on my blog.  The background image went missing so I'm rehauling and sticking with plain until I come up with something better! :)
